What is your first memory of excellence? 

As a young lady, I have recollections of my mom putting a cluster of conditioners together to make hair veils. It was, and still is, her 'thing'. Like my mom, for me magnificence has dependably been about being stripped back. Her routine was straightforward: only a little cream and blast, prepared! Halloween Looks You Can Create With Makeup You Already Have

When planning a full-out Halloween costume feels like too much work, let makeup come to your rescue. There's no need to buy anything either. All of these looks can be done with products you probably already have in your makeup bag. Start each with a clean, moisturized face and finish with a spritz of setting spray to ensure your look lasts all night.

1. Fairy Makeup

1. Blend a bright pink shadow into the crease of your eye. Apply the pink shadow (I used the Urban Decay Eye Shadow in "1985" from the Vice Palette) onto the crease of your eye with a fluffy eye shadow brush, and blend it up toward your brow bone to soften the harsh line.

2. Line the crease of your eye with a shimmery purple shadow. Using a pencil brush (a brush with short, compact bristles that taper out to create a pointy pencil shape), trace the crease of your eye with purple eye shadow, starting from the inner corner of your eye, to start the cut crease. Try the Urban Decay Eye Shadow in "Beat Down" from the Vice Palette. When you reach the outside corner of your eye, draw a slight flick up toward your eyebrow to create a cat-eye effect. Then, use your fluffy brush from step one to softly blend the purple into the pink.

3. Sharpen the edge of your cut crease with foundation. Cover up the eye shadow fallout on your eyelid with a bit of your foundation (I used Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation in "Light 48 Neutral") and a small flat brush. Carefully glide it along your eyelid while following the shape of the cut crease you created with the purple shadow, then smooth it out over your entire eyelid. This will clean up your line and also serve as the base for your next step.

4. Add an iridescent shimmer pigment on top of your eyelids. Spray the same small flat brush with setting spray, like MAC Prep + Prime Fix + Spray, then pat a little bit of shimmer pigment (I used MAC Reflects Glitter/Good Luck Trolls Transparent in "Teal") all across your eyelid under the crease of your eye.

5. Highlight the inner corner of your eye and along your brow bone. I used the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Slimlight in "Pearl."

6. Apply false lashes to really make your eyes pop. The lashes I used here are Huda Beauty Faux Mink Lashes in "Jade #13."

7. Line your bottom lashes with shimmer. Using the same flat brush and shimmer pigment, press the product below your bottom lash line.

8. Apply small silver stars along your temples. Tear off tiny stars from a strand of star tinsel and place a small dot of eyelash glue on the back. Press the stars onto the side of your face and wait for the glue to dry.

9. Add pink shadow and shimmer to your temples. Dampen a Beauty Blender sponge and press the same pink shadow from the first step, as well as an opalescent shimmer pigment, around the sides of your face.

10. Finish with an opaque pink lip gloss. Try the MAC Lipglass/Good Luck Trolls in "Saint Germain."

2. Giraffe Makeup

1. Line the crease of your eye with a brown eye shadow. Using a pencil brush, draw a line of matte brown eye shadow along the crease of your eye starting from the inside corner. Try theKylie Cosmetics Kyshadow in "Bronze/Bronzite" from The Bronze Palette. When you get to the outside corner of your eye, draw a slight flick up toward your eyebrow to create a cat-eye effect.

2. Blend a burnt orange shadow into the crease of your eye. Apply the orange shadow (I used the Kylie Cosmetics Kyshadow in "Hematite" from The Bronze Palette) over the crease of your eye with a fluffy eye shadow brush, and blend it into the brown line.

3. Add a gold shimmer pigment on top of your eyelid. Spray a small flat brush with setting spray, such as MAC Prep + Prime Fix + Spray, and then pat a little bit of metallic shimmer pigment (I used Mehron Metallic Powder in "Gold") across your eyelid from your lash line up to the crease you made.

4. Line your bottom lashes for a smoky look. Use the same brown shadow and pencil brush from step one to line underneath your bottom lashes.

5. Line your eyes with black liquid liner in the shape of a cat-eye. Trace the liquid liner (I used BareMinerals Lash Domination Ink Liner) from the inside corner of your eye to the outside corner, and then continue to draw the cat-eye flick. Click here for tips on how to nail the perfect cat-eye.

6. Apply false lashes to really make your eyes pop. The lashes I used here are Huda Beauty Faux Mink Lashes in "Farah #12."

7. Apply a nude lip color. Fill in your lips with a subtle shade that won't distract from the rest of your makeup. I used Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in "Venus."

8. Cut the edges of makeup sponges to create stamps for your giraffe spots. Cut triangular-shaped makeup sponges with scissor and make four different-sized shapes to create your spotted pattern.

9. Dip your sponges in a darker foundation or contour cream to create your spots. (I used L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Glow.) Carefully press it onto the side of your face and down your neck. Make sure to alternate sponges to create the pattern you want.

10. Set your foundation and highlight with gold shimmer on top. Use a fan brush to set the foundation (use a setting powder like Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder). Then, use the same brush to sprinkle on some gold shimmer; I used the same gold pigment from step three.

3. Leopard Makeup

1. Start by contouring your face. Load up product on areas like the sides of your forehead, along the sides of your nose, and under your cheekbones to give your face more of a cat-like shape. Try the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour.

2. Blend out the contour product. Keep the areas on your forehead, nose, and cheeks super-pigmented, and focus on blending out only the edges and harsh lines with a sponge, like theBeauty Blender.

3. Add highlighter onto the tops of your cheeks, the middle of your forehead, down the middle of your nose, and along your Cupid's bow. Use a light yellow-tinted powder, like the one in the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette, and begin shading these areas to contrast the contour and give your face more cat-like dimension.

4. Contour your eyes with nude shadows. Using a nude shadow palette, such as Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette, apply a cream shade on the center of your eyelid and in the inside corner of your eye. Then, blend taupe and brown shades in the crease of your eye and on the outside corner to make your eyes appear bigger.

5. Line your eyes with black liquid liner in the shape of a cat-eye. Trace the liquid liner (I used Kat Von D Five Fearless Years Limited Edition Tattoo Liner in "Trooper" here) from the inside corner of your eye to the outside corner, and then continue to draw the cat-eye flick. 6. Continue to trace your bottom eyelid with the black liquid liner to finish your big cat-eyes. Starting deep in the inner corner of your eye, glide the liner along your lower lashes and connect the end with your cat-eye flick. Finish your eyes with a thick coat of mascara.

7. With a black pencil eyeliner, draw a heart shape around the bottom tip of your nose. Continue to draw a thin line down your septum (the part of your nose that separates your two nostrils) and halfway down to the middle of your lip. Try the e.l.f. Lock on Gel Liner in "Crave it Black."

8. Use black pencil liner to draw small black dots along your upper lip. Press the tip of the pencil into your skin and gently twist it to get the perfect spots.

9. Use a brown pencil liner to draw little "C" shapes along your temples. Complete the leopard spots by adding some black lines along the edges of the brown "C" shapes. Try theMaybelline Master Kajal in "Midnight Brown" for your spots.

10. Finish with your black pencil liner to draw whiskers on each side of your face.

4. Mermaid Makeup

1. Grab a pair of fishnet tights and slide one leg over the top of your head so it covers the top half of your face.

2. Use a spray bottle or a wet sponge to dampen the skin along your temples. This will help the eye shadow you apply next step adhere better through the fishnet holes.

3. Pat a shimmery blue eye shadow onto your temple. Try Buxom Eye Shadow Bar Single Eye Shadow in "Shimmering Turquoise." Make sure to hold the fishnet in place so it doesn't move while you apply the eye shadow.

4. Pat a shimmery green shadow on top of the blue. The one I used here is Kat Von D Metal Crush Eye Shadow in "Iggy."

5. Dust a shimmery loose highlighter along your temples to make your "scales" glisten. Try Sigma Loose Shimmer in "Ravishing." Then gently remove the fishnet tights from your head.

6. Use a teal liquid liner to line your eyes. The one I used here is Mary Kay at Play Bold Fluid Eyeliner in "The Real Teal."

7. Loosely blend a shimmery copper or gold shadow along your eyelid and into the crease. Adding a gold shadow, like Vincent Longo Cangiante Dimensional Eye Shadow in "Noccia," will give your eyes a beachy mermaid glow.

8. Finish with a coat of mascara. Try Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in "Black."

5. Pop Art Makeup

1. Start by drawing a bold black cat-eye. Use a liquid liner, such as Kat Von D Five Fearless Years Limited Edition Tattoo Liner in "Trooper."

2. Outline your brows with a black pencil liner and fill them in all the way. Try thee.l.f. Lock on Gel Liner "Crave it Black."

3. Draw thin black lines along your features to give your face dimension. Using the same black liner, draw a bold line under your cheekbones, along your jawline, on your chin, and small marks on your nose.

4. Make your eyelashes more cartoon-like by drawing them on your upper and lower eyelids with your black liquid liner.

5. Cover your face with small red dots about a centimeter apart from one another.Press the tip of a red liner, like MAC Lip Pencil in "Ruby Woo," onto your skin, twist it, and remove the pencil for the perfect-size dots.

6. Line your lips with the same red pencil liner and fill them in.

7. Outline your lips with black pencil liner.

8. Make your lips look more cartoonish by drawing a small white line on one side of your lower lip. Try the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "604 Milk."

6. Pinup Makeup

1. Contour your eyes with nude shadows. Using a nude shadow palette, like Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette, apply a cream shade on the center of your eyelid and onto the inside corner of your eye. Then, blend taupe and brown shades in the crease of your eye and on the outside corner to make your eyes appear bigger.

2. Draw a bold black cat-eye with liquid liner. To ensure the flick of your cat-eye is perfect, align the edge of a business card at a tilt along the outside corner of your eye. Then trace your flick along the edge of the card. Try Kat Von D Five Fearless Years Limited Edition Tattoo Liner in "Trooper."

3. Apply false lashes and a generous coat of mascara to really make your eyes pop.

4. Create a deep Cupid's bow by drawing an "X" on your upper lip. Use a bright red lip liner, such as MAC Lip Pencil in "Ruby Woo."

5. Fill your lips in completely with the red pencil.

6. Top your lips with a matching red lipstick. The one I used here is YSL Rouge Pur Couture in "01 Le Rouge."

7. Clean up the edges of your lipstick with a cotton swab and concealer. Do this to make the edges of your lips extra sharp and to ensure that your lipstick won't bleed.

8. Finish with a faux beauty mark. Use the tip of an eyeliner, like Hourglass Mechanical Gel Liner in "Obsidian," to draw a small dot.

7. Vampire Makeup

1. Contour your face to give your features a chiseled look. Try the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette.

2. Use a shimmery loose powder to highlight the middle of your forehead, down the middle of your nose, and on the tops of your cheeks. Apply the highlighting powder liberally to lighten your face. Try Sigma Loose Shimmer in "Ravishing."

3. Blend a taupe eye shadow into the crease of your eye to create depth. Try MAC Eye Shadow in "Coquette."

4. Apply a metallic burgundy shadow all over your eyelid, stopping below the crease of your eye. The shadow I used here is Kat Von D Metal Crush Eye Shadow in "Raw Power."

5. Line your lower lash line with the same metallic burgundy shadow. Smudge it out with your brush for a smoky effect.

6. Blend a matte black shadow from the outside corner of your eye into the crease to make your eyes look super-sultry. Try NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow in "Raven."

7. Apply false lashes and a couple coats of mascara for bold lashes. The lashes I used here are Make Up For Ever Eyelashes Strip in "21 Floriane."

8. Use a black pencil liner to fill in the corners of your lips. Then, use a smudger brush to blend the edges out toward the center of your lips.

9. Apply a burgundy lip gloss and spread it evenly along your lips. Try Manic Panic Lethal Lips in "Black Rose."

10. Use a juicy red lip gloss to drip "blood" down the corner of your mouth. Squeeze a little bit of the gloss out of the tube — try mark. Juice Gems in "Raspberry" — and let it drip down your chin.

8. Deer Makeup

1. Start by contouring your face. Load up the product on areas such as the sides of your forehead, along the sides of your nose, and under your cheekbones. Try the dark shades in the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette.

6. Liberally coat your lashes with black mascara. The one I used here is Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in "Black." Focus the formula on the lashes at the outer corners of your eyes to give yourself that doe-eyed look.

7. With a black pencil, create a deer nose. Using a black liner, such as e.l.f. Lock on Gel Liner in "Crave it Black," trace your nostrils and the tip of your nose. Then, draw a line down from your septum to the top middle of your lip and fill it in.

8. Use a white pencil liner to draw deer spots along your temples and cheeks. TryNYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "604 Milk."

9. Scarecrow Makeup

1. Using an coral-orange lip and cheek tint, draw circles over the apples of your cheeks and a rounded triangle on the tip of your nose. The one I used here is Touch in Sol Technicolor Lip & Cheek Tint With Powder Finish in "Passion Orange."

2. Apply the same lip and cheek tint to your lips.

3. Line your eyes with a metallic gold shade. Try Nudestix Magnetic Eye Color in "Gilt."

4. Draw a cat-eye and then draw additional flicks that resemble the stitches of a scarecrow. Use a black liquid liner, such as Kat Von D Five Fearless Years Limited Edition Tattoo Liner in "Trooper."

5. Apply false lashes to make your eyes pop. Try Make Up For Ever Eyelashes Strip in "21 Floriane."

6. Outline the triangle on your nose and then draw stitch-like dashes around it. Use a pencil liner, like e.l.f. Lock on Gel Liner in "Crave it Black."

7. Draw black lines with black pencil liner that extend from your corners of your mouth to the halfway point across your cheeks. Then, draw stitch-like dashes across it.

8. Make your face look more doll-like by drawing small white "shine marks" on your cheeks and nose. Try NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "604 Milk."

10. Flapper Makeup

1. Darken the top edge of your eyebrows to give them a thinner look, which was popular in the '20s. Try an angled brush and a brow powder like Anastasia Brow Powder Duo.

2. Blend a matte black eye shadow across your eyelid and into the crease. Try NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow in "Raven."

3. Line your lower lashes with the same matte black shadow and smudge it out with the brush.

4. Line your eyes with a black pencil liner. Then, use the smudger brush to diffuse the line for a smokier look. Try e.l.f. Lock on Gel Liner "Crave it Black."

5. Apply lip balm to your eyelid to make your eye shadow more dewy. The lip balm I used here is Rimmel London Lip Balm in "Clear."

6. Apply false lashes to make your eyes pop. Try Make Up For Ever Eyelashes Strip in "21 Floriane."

7. Generously coat your lashes with mascara. Be sure to coat your bottom lashes as well to add drama.

8. Dab concealer over your lips to hide your natural shape. You'll need to reshape your lips in the next step so it's important to prep them first.

9. With a red lip liner, make your lips less wide with an exaggerated cupids bow.Then fill them in. The liner I used here is MAC Lip Pencil in "Ruby Woo."

10. Top your lips with a merlot-colored lipstick. The one I used here is Avon Ultra Color Indulgence Lip Color in "Chocolate Rose."
